Think Big! Live on Purpose! Excel at Life!
Eastern Academy Charter School (EACS) was founded in 2009 by Eastern University. The educational philosophy of EACS empowers students to pursue their passion in an early college learning environment while connecting their experience in the real world. The innovative mission of discovery-based learning experience is to develop logical reasoning and critical thinking. As an early college high school, students are afforded the opportunity to enroll in advanced courses at Eastern University. In addition to experiencing the educational stimulation of a college campus atmosphere, they qualify for dual credit, allowing them to graduate high school with college credits completed. In the two 100 percent of our seniors graduated, were accepted to post-secondary institutions, and they received close to $500,000 in scholarship funds. The school was also awarded a Black Male Engagement Grant of $10,000 from the Knight Foundation and received national exposure from the nomination of its CEO, Omar Barlow, as a finalist for the Steve Harvey Neighborhood Award’s Best Community Leader.
The mission of Eastern Academy Charter School is to provide a holistic, college-integrated learning community dedicated to the education of each student in the context of his/her unique interests. The school will provide students with an environment of excitement and early expectation through an integrative discovery-based learning experience that will develop logical reasoning, critical thinking, and purpose driven global citizens. The school will graduate self-directed, self-aware learners many of whom will have successfully mastered college level work.
Congratulations to the Eastern Academy Charter School 12th Grade on being a TreeRing Green Yearbook School! Since they were able to sell 46 yearbooks, Trees for the Future, will work to plant that many trees in the school's name.
