URGENT: Charter Renewal Update on Monday, April 23 @ 6pm - SRC to vote on Thursday
April 20, 2018
Dear Parents, Students & Staff,
I am writing to thank you again for all of your support as we engage in the painstaking process of fighting the School Reform Commission and the Charter School’s Office for the renewal of our charter. Since our hearings concluded we received well over 100 letters of support and over 1,100 people signed our petition. We are also thankful to our student leaders who joined us in making sure that members of City Council were aware of our position.
Unfortunately, the hearing officer Rudolph Garcia has recommended nonrenewal of our charter and the SRC intends to take action on this recommendation next Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 4:30 PM.
The time has come. We must do everything we can to make sure that this current School Reform Commission does not vote on this matter until the new school board commences on July 1, 2018. We must be prepared to protest and demonstrate to the SRC why EACS must remain open by attending the meeting on Thursday, April 26 at 4:30 PM.
Additionally, we will hold a very special parent and community meeting on Monday, April 23rd at 6:00 pm at the school. We will provide you with a clear outline of things that you can do to continue to support our cause.
What’s most important is that while we fight for our school, we WILL REMAIN OPEN.

Click on the LINK Below to take the School District of Philadelphia's Parent Survey. You will need your scholar's School District ID number (included on the flyer that was sent home or call Mrs. Thompson 215-769-3125).
Taking this survey will provide valuable data and feedback for EACS and the School District of Philadelphia. We greatly appreciate your participation!
Congratulations to the Eastern Academy Charter School 12th Grade on being a TreeRing Green Yearbook School! Since they were able to sell 46 yearbooks, Trees for the Future, will work to plant that many trees in the school's name.
